The two main festivals taking place in Shallah today are Jazz au Chellah and Mawazine international music festival.

The 22nd edition of Jazz au Chellah took place between the 28th of September and 1st October 2017. It is a cultural manifestation happening only in the evenings at the archaeological site away from the visible ruins but usually contained within the medieval walls. Its objective is to bring European jazz artists to create different fusions with all Moroccan artists from the different registers of Moroccan music. The festival is organized by the prefecture of Rabat, the ministry of culture, the European Union, and many different cultural partners from European countries.

As for the festival of Mawazine, it is organized by a non-profit named Maroc Culture. It is an international festival of grand reputation bringing artists from all over the world to play on stages all around Rabat. One of these stages is in Shallah and it is dedicated to spiritual music. In Shallah are also Mawazine’s after parties behind closed gates.
